Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I get started?
We offer two introductory offers for new members: your first three classes for $30 or a one-month unlimited trial for $99. Both offers are available for one-time use only. If you are visiting from out of town or want to explore our services, we recommend starting with the three-class offer. For those looking to fully experience Oak and Iron Fitness and discover what sets us apart as the premier gym in Wake County, the one-month trial is ideal. This option allows you ample time to engage with our community, familiarize yourself with our coaches, and explore various class types and programming.
What services do you offer?
We provide a variety of services:
Group Classes: Scheduled seven days a week, our 50-minute classes are limited to 16 participants and operate on 11-week cycles, including pre-tests and post-tests on various movements. Our program blends strength and conditioning classes, designed to build strength and improve overall well-being safely.
Personal Training: One-on-one sessions tailored to your goals and preferred time slots.
Semi-Private Training: Work closely with a trainer alongside a friend or partner with shared goals. This option allows for customized workouts at a shared cost.
Nutrition Coaching: A personalized service aimed at enhancing your dietary habits and achieving health and wellness goals. Our coaching covers best practices, macronutrient understanding, and accountability support, ensuring sustainable changes for long-term results.
Virtual Training: Ideal for those who travel frequently or do not live locally. Using our app, you can follow our program, access tutorials, log results, and train anywhere at your convenience.
Do you have showers and lockers?
Yes, we offer cubbies at the front entrance and lockers in the restrooms. If you prefer to secure your belongings, please bring your own lock. We ask that you do not leave locks on overnight. Each restroom has two showers, and we provide toiletries and towels for your convenience.
What makes Oak and Iron Fitness different?
Oak and Iron is a locally owned business recognized as the top gym in Wake County for the past four consecutive years. Here’s what sets us apart:
Community: Our vibrant community fosters connections through social events, meet-ups, and service projects, including our annual Acorns & Iron event dedicated to youth empowerment and wellness.
Accountability: We implement systems to help keep you accountable. Our team actively monitors attendance and reaches out to support members in staying on track with their fitness goals.
Coaching Aptitude: Our coaches are highly qualified, with many holding degrees in exercise science or physical education. We prioritize ongoing education and professional development to ensure you receive the best guidance.
Caring Environment: We prioritize understanding your motivations and life outside the gym. Our holistic approach focuses on overall wellness, helping you discover the best version of yourself.
Program Design: Our strength and conditioning workouts are intentionally crafted to enhance your movement, strength, and body composition while ensuring safety.
Where is the lost and found?
The lost and found is located near the cubbies at the front of the gym.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable activewear. Please choose footwear that provides stability and power transfer for lifting, such as weightlifting or flat-soled shoes, and opt for running or cross-training shoes for conditioning workouts.
What are the differences between the class types?
LIFT: Our signature strength class focused on weightlifting, emphasizing proper form and progressive overload.
STEADY: Low Intensity Steady State (LISS) training, designed to maintain your heart rate in zone 2 while incorporating mobility, core work, and conditioning.
DRIVE: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), characterized by dynamic movements and longer rest intervals to maximize energy output.
KB STEADY: Similar to STEADY, this class emphasizes kettlebell training while incorporating conditioning elements.
OPEN GYM: Unable to make it to a class that day. Take advantage of our open gym between 1-4pm Monday-Friday. Sign up for it just like you would a class.
What are the details of your membership options?
We offer both punch cards and memberships based on your class attendance frequency:
BASIC: 8 classes per cycle (2x per week).
PREMIUM: 12 classes per cycle (3x per week).
ELITE: Unlimited classes.
Do you have contracts?
Our memberships operate on a month-to-month basis with automatic drafts, and we do not require long-term contracts. Cancel anytime.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for personal training sessions and a one-hour cancellation window for group classes. A $15 cancellation fee applies for “no shows” or cancellations made within one hour of class start time.
How do I sign up for classes?
You can sign up for classes using the Mindbody App or the Oak and Iron Fitness app.
Should I sign up in advance?
While we can accommodate walk-ins if space allows, we strongly encourage advance registration for classes.
What if I need to cancel or suspend my membership?
To freeze or cancel your membership, please email us at team@oakandironfitness.com. If you will be away for 14 days or more, you can temporarily freeze your account.
Why can’t I book a class when I have a membership?
If you attempt to schedule a class outside your billing cycle, you will be prompted to make a purchase. In this case, please notify a coach or email us at team@oakandironfitness.com. Once your new billing cycle begins, your account will automatically update and sync your membership.
What is your class capacity?
We keep our classes capped at 16 per class.
Do you offer discounts?
We offer 20% off for Teachers, Nurses, and First Responders.
Do you offer Guest Passes?
If you have a friend interested in trying, their first class is on us! After that all ELITE members have unlimited discounted guest passes for $20 ($10 off).
